Top 3 Best Storage Boxes For Your Home

Hey there once again! 😀

Now that we’re at the final of this special period which I called “The Storage Box Month” on Home Of Art, it’s time to end it in a proper manner. And what could be better than making a Top 3 of the Best Storage Boxes you should try.

I know you don’t have too much time to waste so I will try to keep this post short and clear.

But before I start to show you the best 3 storage boxes, let me give you a quick remainder of the qualities a perfect deck box should have.

Features To Look For When Buying A Storage Box

  • Adequate Dimensions

I won’t insist too much on this thing because I guess everyone knows what they want to store in their deck box, so choosing the right dimensions shouldn’t be a big problem.

However, in case you plan to use it for multiple purposes, try to choose a storage box that is a few gallons larger. In this way, you’ll never have an unpleasant surprise when it comes to storing.

  • Waterproof Design

My Experience With Suncast Resin Wicker 22 Gallon Storage SeatThat’s a very important feature, something which in my opinion, any deck box should have.

It’s true that others call it “stay-dry design” (see Suncast 129 Gallon Deck Box) but it’s basically the same thing: the ability to protect the things inside from rain, snow or other weather conditions, as well as from insects and stuff.

This means that you can also store the outside, in your backyard or any uncovered space.

Most deck boxes from these days are created with a special waterproof design, but it’s always good to check, so make sure the storage item you buy has this ability, else you may change your mind to a better piece.

  • Lockable Lids

Although that’s not a “must have” in all cases, it’s always best to choose a deck box that has the ability to be locked in certain situations.

Either you want to keep important (or private 😛 ) things inside, or you simply want to keep it locked to prevent it from opening, lockable lids are a very useful feature that many deck boxes have.

However, I’ve come across enough pieces that lacked this ability (see Rubbermaid Large Deck Box) so if you really need an item that can be closed, you can either choose another one or manually add a lockable lid to your piece.

Top 3 Storage Boxes For Your Home

Now here we are at the most interesting part, probably the most important conclusion of this Storage Box Month.

This top that I made is based on my experience with each product and my own opinion about each, so don’t get mad at me if you hear different recommendations for deck boxes. 😛

Long story short, let’s begin with number #3.

3. Suncast 22 Gallons Storage Seat

The third place in our top goes to the popular 2-in-1 deck box and storage seat from Suncast, a piece that would always be welcome in my backyard.

But let me try to describe it better here.

  • Waterproof and Weather Resistant design
  • Easy assembly instructions
  • I would say it’s also a pretty long lasting product
  • Quite sturdy for a plastic item
  • International shipping available
  • Very low price

  • No lockable lids or any other locking device
  • Just one color available
  • It’s not totally sealed, so there are some (few) chances that insects could come in

FINAL VERDICT: 9.50 out of 10

2. Sauder Creek Storage Chest

This may not be the #1 product when it comes to popularity (so you probably haven’t heard of it 😛 ) but it’s definitely worth the second position in our top. Here’s why.

  • It’s made of authentic wood
  • Weather resistance and protection guaranteed
  • 4 different color options
  • Pretty good price, there are often discounts
  • Free shipping

  • No International shipping available

FINAL VERDICT: 9.60 out of 10

3. Suncast 73 Gallons Deck Box

The lucky number #1 storage box of our top is another item from Suncast, but this time it’s a slightly larger one, the 73 gallons version. That’s by far the best storage box I had, so I really had to place it on the first position as it wins the title of “Home Of Art’s Best Storage Box”.

Let me show you my reasons.

  • Large and sturdy item
  • Waterproof design and weather resistance included
  • Very easy assembly for just one person
  • The price is pretty low
  • Free shipping offered

  • It doesn’t ship internationally

FINAL VERDICT: 9.70 out of 10

So this was my special article at the end of this Storage Box Month, an article where I tried to recommend you the best deck boxes you could get, in case you’re considering buying one in the nearest future.

I will try to keep my article updated, so in case I test a better storage box (from every point of view 😛 ) I will review it and include it in my top.

These are really great! I had no idea there were so many different kinds of storage boxes available. I live in a big city, so storage is obviously at a premium. We just don’t have the space and expanse that you get if you live in the suburbs or out in rural areas. These options you presented will be a big help for me to re-organize and store a lot of our stuff.

Hey Mike, I’m glad to hear you enjoyed these ideas 🙂

Yes, in your case I guess a storage box would come really in handy, so it’s good to take a look at several items before you decide. These 3 I mentioned here are probably the best I’ve worked with, so I can pretty much guarantee that they’re a really good choice.

Thank you for reading my blog.

My husband likes the brand Lifetime for outdoor storage and sheds. They have this big container that you can fix two of your big city garbage and recycling cans in. It’s nice because they’re hidden from view and won’t knock over from a storm. We get gusty winds from time to time and have had our cans fly down the street. I want to get one of those because they can be expensive. But the outdoor bench style there would be great for our boys to put their toys in.

Hi Sarah, thanks for your comment 🙂

I saw some storage boxes from Lifetime, though I haven’t actually tried any myself. But from what I heard from others and now from you, they’re pretty cool.

Now that you mentioned it, I’m actually thinking about reviewing one Lifetime storage box soon, based on some of my clients’ experience with it.

      Thanks for the idea 🙂
